Service Air Filter Message On Dash

    Hello,

I have a 2013 RAM 3500 SRW that is deleted and I noticed about 2 months ago the service air filter message popped up on my dash.

So I checked it out and the clamp on the intake tube on the turbo rusted and broke.

Replaced it and everything was fine, 3 days ago the message popped back up on the dash again and the same clamp broke again.

Replaced the clamp and replaced the air filter because it was a little dirty.

Took my truck for a drive and if I'm nice to it the message doesn't come on if I give it any kind of aggressive throttle the message comes on again.

I turn the truck off and back on the message disappears until I give it aggressive throttle again then it comes back on.

Put old air filter back in thinking maybe the cheap air filter had something to do with it and took it for another ride and same thing happens.

I have no DTCs and I'm at a loss on where to go. I did check the clamp again and its fine.

Any thoughts on what it might be or what I should do would be a great help!

Sounds like a sensor or something maybe reading bad?

Now for the clamp breaking that’s a new one on me.

Hopefully someone on here can give you an answer.

Thanks for the advice, I guess I'll get a sensor and start eliminating from there.

Just a thought, Have you checked the tube that goes out the back over the passenger side plastic wheel well. It is known to suck shut after getting wet.

Well I have found the issue, this stupid cardboard intake tube in the wheel well was destroyed and the truck wasn't pulling in air properly.

Took it off and haven't had the message come on since.

Why the factory put this stupid cardboard thing on is beyond me.

    I also had this message.

2016 RAM 3500 with active air.

I though it might be the breather but mine was in good shape.

I removed the filter and found that that the linkage connecting the two doors was disconnected.

This was only allowing air from under the fender?

The message, "service air filter", would appear at about half throttle.

    Glad you figured out.

I replaced mine with PVC sewer and drain.

Been there for 3 years, no issues.
