    2006 Dodge RAM - 5.9L Cummins - 153000 Miles

    Hi. I noticed something today.i’m on a roadtrip/vacation and when my truck is running uphill rpm 2000-2500 it puffs little blue smoke. With higher rpm its gone. Otherwise its fine. Normal egt and everything else is spot on and no trouble codes.i have not done anything mechanical work on it lately other than a cheap loud cold air intake. Most of the year i drive short distances. And it is hotter than ever in norway now. It has not been this hot since 1947 should i worry? Or is this normal? Any input on this would be nice

    I was running an a trip through the desert and got puffs of smoke now and then when accelerating and found my air cleaner needed cleaning. Might check that. I wouldn't worry to much about it unless it starts showing a loss of MPG or loss of oil level.

    Oh: and I hope its a great vacation trip.

    I dropped my cold open air filter and cleaned my stock filter and put that one back into my truck. Took it for a test drive but it still puff some blue smoke. Oil level is normal and i have’nt noticed any loss of MPG. I don’t like this and i don’t get any codes on my bullydog tuner.

    A lot depends on how much smoke. Are these the stock injectors? Is the fuel pressure within range? Could be several items that can cause this. If the smoke isn't that much, not to worry, just letting you know you need to look into this before you're in deep problem.
    @Polaraco ... ideas ???

    Smoke is blue not black.Not that much but enough that i see it in the mirror. It happends when i’m around 2500rpm. I replaced my injectors last year. Fuel pressure is normal. But it became a bit better when i mounted my oem filter and box again. I know that catalysator,fuel and liftpump is from when truck was new. It does’nt smoke all the time. It happens when i stay around that rpm and my truck get resistance not in a straight line when it operates light. Lower rpm and above is normal. No smoke at harder accelration.
