No surprise really. It was a matter of time. I'm sure G56 sales accounted for a very low percentage of sales.

Re: ZF 8-Speed Transmission for Cummins 2020?

I'm not buying into the ZF crap, I have seen too many of my own issues with their transmissions at low miles in everything from BMW's, Land Rovers, and Jaguars. Parts are expensive as hell and even fluid is expensive ($15+ quart) and hard to find. Have seen them have issues with solenoids sticking and also plastic parts inside of the transmission warping and cracking causing me money and headaches.

I don't think they would survive behind a H.O. Cummins.

Now onto the Aisin transmissions, form what I have seen it is a hell of a stout unit and the maintenance is actually pretty cheap and easy, $40 filter kit from RockAuto, and fluid is Mobil 3309/Toyota atf IV that you can pick up at any local Toyota dealer for $6/qt.

Most people are happy with the Aisin AS69RC (except for Revmax talking trash about Aisins, because it doesn't make them money like the 68RFE does).

I just wish someone would crack the encryption so we can tune them to shift the way we want plus why not; We love tinkering with this stuff duh.

My only complaint with the Aisin is they shift a bit funny when you first get one but they learn and smooth out, which surprised me because when I first got my truck I thought I made a mistake buying an Aisin but now I love it and even romp on it here and there without worry.

The best scenario would be if FCA refined AS69RC just a little (and of course tune-able )and made it available in every 2500+ without extra cost.

I had the Aisin upgrade in my 17 3500.

It was a 2600 mark up!

The transmission does act funny in the beginning but it does smooth out.

If I let it sit for a few weeks the transmission acts funny but then it smooths out again.

    I think it relearns again...

I hope they follow through on this. I really like the 8speed behind the 6.4 hemi. I still don't understand the dial shifter knob vs column shifter but pretty much use to it now.

At the present moment in time, there is no indication on our side that suggests a switch to the ZF transmission for the Cummins trucks.

While the 8HP90/95 are monsters of a transmission, neither platform offers the capability needed for our trucks.

If anything, I would expect to see a switch to a variant of the AISIN for the 2500s, but the upgraded 68RFE has, so far, been proven to be a fantastic transmission.

I'd personally like to see the heavy dutys get a multi-disc torque converter & some improved gear ratios.
