It pays to look under the hood once in a while

I have a S&B intake. The other day I popped the hood to change the air filter. The S&B has a clear cover in the air box so you can see the filter.

What I saw was the filter NOT connected to anything. Just lying there. I had taken it off late last fall to blow it out and check it over. Apparently I didn't have it all the way back on. Don't know how long it'd been that way.

Just for the heck of it, I'd be pulling the tube to the turbo off and lookin at the blades, what I could see in the turbo housing also inside the tube.
That would give you some idea of whats been through there.

Ouch!!! I get it we all get busy and always put it off and im guilty of it as well LOL. I try to make myself look under often always to keep an eye on things. It's crazy how things can wiggle loose over time or an issue that you may not see can come about so quickly!

Glad you caught it though and hope nothing comes of it!

I just installed the S&B cold air intake on my truck today. I'll have to watch for that. Good luck with your's. Hopefully there wasn't any damage.
