    Deleted Towing Questions

I've only towed a couple of times and not more than 1 1/2 hrs from home since certain non-essential parts fell off.

My towing to date has been with the selector switch in the 'stock' position.

I seem to have plenty of power in this position.

The hills haven't been particularly long or high to date, but the question is, at what point do you kick up the HP?

    That's where I'm at now.

I seem to have plenty of power right now when towing in the stock position.

I'll be heading downstate in a few weeks, and there's a long hill on the way.

Do I kick it up a notch at the bottom to prevent speed from dropping or when the rpm and speed drop an x number?

It is very, very possible I'm way overthinking this.

Then I wouldn’t turn it up until you put one on.

From my understanding, you would want to turn the power up 30ish miles before the hill so that the trans has a chance to rethink its life.

A sudden power surge with a long pull might surprise the transmission.

    Re: Deleted Towing Questions

Since the original date that I made this post, I've traded the entirely deleted '14 in for a non-deleted '21.

The only thing I've done so far to the '21 was to put a bypass oil filter on.

The '14 was a beast, and I do miss the power it gave me towing thru the hills down south and out west.

The company that did the original work got busted and won't touch a pickup anymore.

I know; I asked if they'd install a pyrometer on the '21 and was flat out refused.

    Sinister Diesel oil bypass

    Re: Deleted Towing Questions

    How heavy are you pulling/towing?

Which hill are you talking about?

I'm a troll and haven't had an issue with any hill yet; however, i haven't had more than 5k pounds behind me yet, LOL.

You can do an intact emissions tune through DRD.

You won't have to worry about taking anything off.

Just install the tune and be good to go.

    Re: Deleted Towing Questions

    I tow a 14k 5th wheel.

    Towing I don’t go above 30 hp as I have the 68RFE.

More than 30 is tough on the transmission.

Another essential tip is if you have to come off the cruise, don’t hit the resume button.

Instead, use the pedal to ease it back to speed.

My resume will want to go wide open throttle and again really hard on the transmission.

Seems the bigger HP is really an issue for the transmission not the engine.
