I know it's a PITA, but the best way to adjust the valves is by the Cummins procedure. If you need it, let me know.

That’s how I set them but I’ve never been the greatest person to adjust valves ther is usually one that is loose and you hear the tick tick noise. I have the procedure but I’m past that part I’ve gone in and loosened all of them up I think I may pull the injectors again check the copper washers, do a compression test and then if everything is good reinstall them with new crossover tubes. But what happens if I find nothing wrong then what?

Ok guys new update and may have found the problem truck was 2 gallons low on coolant no drips, new water pump, new hoses, new t-stat, new electric fan clutch and original radiator and cap. Also boost is slow to build and egt’s climb quick. Head gasket? But how? Coolant color looks off
Did they magnaflux the head? was the head plained? How many times has that head been off now?
You better look for cracks

Yes the machine shop magnufluxed it and no cracks and followed with a resurface. Head has been off 4 time sense I’ve owned it I’m going to do a pressure test and make sure it’s not a stupid radiator cap. The coolant temp normally was around 180 never saw it over 200 except when my water pump went bad then it got to about 220. Now it losses coolant every time it’s ran for very long and coolant them is normal unless it idles when parked this time I’ve only seen it at 214 I did put a 180 t-stat in it awhile ago
