I've seen too many catastrophes. I'm like "TakeAway..." I cringe when I see people towing so fast- if anything happens it will be so much worse with high speed.

OK, I will give a mountain trip a try with my 3.42's, taking it easy, and see how it goes.
I usually go with the flow of traffic. On Level's a safe cruise control speed seems to be 63. However, I took I 81. On the way back, some of the tractor trailers were passing me! We chatted on the CB allot and I got my onions busted pretty good.

But they respected me because we rode together for several hundred miles. Give them lots of courtesy and most will reciprocate. That ol' yak box bailed me out of a highway closure while I could still get an alternate. Saved me 6 hours and a hungry nap

    Safe trip

Thanks for the info, Polarco. I always have Semi's passing me and I respect them, they're working, I'm on vacation when I'm towing... I do have a CB and magnet antenna in the closet for emergency use, maybe I should plug it in!

    Re: Axle ratio question

I tow a horse trailer with living quarters. I tow it at least once a week. Loaded with a horse I am towing around 13k and don't have a problem with the 3.73 I have. I also don't push it, I just put the cruise control on 67 or less and stay in the far right lane.

I would also point out that load range E Goodyear tires are only rated for 65 mph.
