All right guys and gals I'm not sure if y'all will remember my brother had purchased a 2008 Cummins a few months ago. Well it's been at a mechanic shop for approximately 2 months now and now the guy begins to work on it. At first we thought finally but here's how it's going... First he says you will probably need a new head. Now I can see this if the head was decked to its maximum when it was O ring Ed. But a mechanic who has to send the head off to be milled doesn't have the qualifications or equipment to make this judgment in my opinion. So we said just send it off and if we need to purchase a head we will. Then he says You should purchase a head because in order to accept head studs the heads are bored over. Now this I know to be a load of baloney. I said no they're not and he says well the last one I did had something like 40 cracks......now he says the turbo is likely also the culprit injunction with the head being blown. I cannot fathom a single reason that a bad Turbo which isn't water cooled could ever cause an increase of pressure in the radiator mimicking a blown head. Can anyone else enlighten me on any possible way this can be or is this just a crook trying to make some extra money as it seems to me.
