    Rear axle seal

Hey all, I’ve got a 2014 2500 CC with 25k miles and the rear driver side axle seal is leaking gear oil. Is this common? I tow a 30’ bumper hitch travel trailer 10k loaded for about 8k of the 25k. Also is this considered a drive train item? Hoping it will fall under the 5/100k warranty. Any input is appreciated!

No I don’t believe it is you shouldn’t be having any problems with such low miles

The axle seal is actually very easy to change and the replacements are cheap at the auto parts stores. There are several how-tos on YouTube that can walk you through it.

Yes sir i agree with both of the above. It's up to you which way you want to go about it. Will be a fun little project you can do or let the dealer deal with it.

    Re: Rear axle seal

I had the same issue with low miles. The most I have towed was a Can Am Renegade and my driver seal started leaking. I replaced both driver and passenger and now over 100k miles with no issues since.

Actually if the warrantee covers it, I'd turn it in.
They designed it, installed the failed unit, so they should know, document it and pay for it.
After warrantee ... its a cheap and easy do it yourself project.

Thank you all for the advice. It’s at the dealer now. If It was out of warranty I would do it myself. We’ll let FCA cover this one.

A seal leaking usually indicates somethig else is going on. Loose or worn wheel bearing. If you take it to the dealer, I hope that twit is capable of seeing the problem. No sense fixing the problem with out fixing the cause
