    Surface rust on my 2016

    Hey everyone.

I have a 2016 2500 Cummins and I currently have a lot of small rust dots on my doors and tailgate. I was wondering if anyone else has these issues or if it would be covered under warranty.

    Thanks for all your help.

Haven't had this issue with my 2013, just rock chips, I travel a lot of gravel roads.

My truck is 10 years older than yours and no rust yet. Clean and wax regularly ? I'd contact the dealer just to find out of coverage.

Have had it on a past white truck. I believe they called it rail dust. I think they clay barred the truck and then waxed. Dealer paid for it but not sure if it was warranty or dealer cost.

Turns out it rubbed off with spray wax and a clay bar. Looks like something was on the road or my brake dust got on the side of the truck and rusted in the last 2 weeks since I washed it. Trucks all cleaned up now. Waiting to see if it comes up again.

As someone has mentioned it is rail dust, it is more visible on white vehicles =
