Who All Is Running A Coolant Filter?

Talked to Sinister about the filter hitting the top of my alternator.

They said it is possible from my intake it's in the way, they are sending me a new bracket/elbow.

Depending on how lazy I am and how cold it is depends if I am going to install it.

The Donaldson filter I have on now is DBC4785 bigger then the Cat 435-5142 but smaller then WIX 24070.

Unless someone can give a reason I need to run the bigger filter DBC4085, I am going to keep using 4785

Have to say that if anything they have the best elevator waiting music of any company so far.

I'll take a pic of the bracket when it shows up.

Got the elbow in.

They sent a coolant line elbow, not even going to install it.

My intake still has plenty of space and not hitting the intake, it's hitting the alternator.

Just have to accept that the filter that comes with the kit will not fit my vehicle and may not fit yours. (Wix filter)

I'll just be replacing the filter with the same DBC4785 instead of the Cat 435-5142 that I have on now.

The reason for that is the Cat filter is more expensive, smaller then the Donaldson, and last reason was on my fuel system started galling the threads which you can read and see photos here.

My Wix Filter also was too big; it sounds like a design flaw; the CAT filter fits just fine.

I changed my filter for the first time today placed a large zip lock bag over the filter when loosening but not a drop spilled out.

The angle is really minor, so it is not an issue; it could also be that I am parked on a sloped driveway, so the filter may be more level than if the truck was on level ground.

I cut the filter open, and there was some stuff in it.

Included a pic of the filter media and housing also.

I'll upload photos when I get 500 miles on it and cut it open.

Really curious if the Donaldson will pick up more compared to Cat.
