I dunno what sinisters issue is. 59 and 67 are essentially the same engine. Personally I think it's a Banks Tactic. "It doesn't do anything, but we're the only people that make it. You have to buy ours"

Might be right, but it does help .. and I've always said you can get everything from a parts store and not buy from the sellers. I bought my filter head because I wanted a milled head. All the others I helped with was from the parts store.

Can you get everything from a parts store? I'd check in to that if I knew some part numbers.

If I go this route I'll run a fleetguard water filter (no additives) so I'd pretty much just need the base and go from there. I also don't own a welder so building a bracket could be a challange. Just never got around to running 220 in the garage and now we are selling..

When I helped my friend with his '05, he selected the Napa coolant filter since Napa was just down the road from his home. I'm not positive, but the threads should be about the same size. He handed the filter to the guy at the parts counter and told him what he wanted. The guy looked for the filter head they had, ordered it and we went for all the other parts needed which was in store.

The hardest part my friend had was selecting where to put it in the engine compartment. He ended up putting it where I did since it gave him more room and short length of hoses. I had some spare scraps of metal I used on mine and we made a bracket. Simple is always better. Just think it out before starting.

Pics of the install would be awesome.

In other news I priced out a few parts for a DIY kit and there really doesn't appear to be much savings over just shelling out for a sinister kit. Maybe 30 or 40 bucks that I'd spend on diesel and junk food running around for parts anyway LOL
