The one ton has leaf springs, and duallies have more side to side stability over a SRW. There is a reason I just purchased a 5500 for work. My 2500, is my DD. At work we tow 15000 to 20000 all the time. Even to the lighter side we didn't like the 3500's pulling and needed the bigger axels and brakes, so we opted to go up to 5500. we have a F550 a Ram 5500 and our 3500, is now a parts delivery truck.
Use your head, and think safety. If you can afford the 1 ton, Just do it for the sake of saftey and peace of mind that it is better suited to handle it. Plus the ASIN Trans is better for the pulling.
