I was suggesting you get the whole axle assembly. Then you don't have to mess with the ring and pinion at all. Insurance may pay for the whole thing less the deductible. Then you can do new U Joints while it's apart. You better find out what you have.

Then all you'll need is an alignment.

This eliminates any doubts. We don't know what else has been hurt and no equipment to check it all out
