You can disable it with tuning without actually removing it. Look up "emissions compliant tuning".

I have heard of it being disabled but the crap us still on there. Isn't gases and coolant still going through it though.

That's not 100% true. Most of the replacement parts improve performance as well. Like air horns and grid deletes.

16 to 18 is realistic. I've heard 21 and 22 highway. It's amazing what driving habits and terrain can do to MPG. I go 20 miles south of here and my highway picks up 4 to 5 MPG
