Hey everyone first time posting, other than my introduction. This is my first diesel truck and it seems to have a rattle, that I can only hear at idle and fades away when I turn high idle on. Any ideas or has anyone every had a similar noise. Here’s a link to sound any help is greatly appreciated.

Alright this is about all I’ve done to the truck she came from West Texas, i am the second owner very minimal mods done so far.You need to provide us with as much info that you can such as years of truck any mods all the info that you know bud and put it in your signature bud

Must be my hearing is going. Not sure of what unusual noise you hearing. Doesn't sound unusual to me.

Everything sounds pretty normal. Even the rattle. It might even be your exhaust tapping something as well. I know i need to adjust mine as when im idling sometimes it sounds like it's tapping against something.

Are you talking about that systematic tic tic tic?
Typical Cummins. It's backlash in the injector pump gear. Every time and injector closes it throws pressure back on the pump, throwing the pump gear back on the drive gear. You can fix it, but it will be back in 30K. It's just normal gear wear. It's probably .001 in the wear, but there's enough pressure to make noise. They all do it. Normal. If that's the worst you have, then you're golden.
The only other thing to check is the valve lash. They should be done every 100K. Short haul trucks a bit more often
