Painting cap at base of antenna

Has anyone painted the cap at the base of the antenna? It was black originally and now it is almost completely faded.

Mine was almost white when I got my truck(used). I just used some flat black spray paint I had in the shop and its held up great. its been about a year now and it hasn't faded.

Did you remove it first or just tape up really well around it?

I removed mine, roughed it up with some sandpaper and sprayed a couple coats of black on it. Been almost a year and still looks the same! Just be careful when loosening the ring at the top that holds it in...very easy to buggar it up!

I've read many people have been into Plasti-Dip. If ya got any of that it might be worth the effort. Heard it last for years.
