    lugging or issue?

    Good Morning,

I have been noticing when i am driving around mainly when i get up into 4-6th gear that once i get up to speed, let off, then go to accelerate it almost feels like its lugging or shuddering. its not terrible but its defiantly noticeable. I wasn't sure if other people felt the same thing and it was a normal thing? 2016 ram 2500 tuned by RR Diesel.

Sounds like engine harmonics going thru the drive train on a 68RFE truck once the TCC is locked. At lower engine rpm and under load the effect will be noticed more. This is normal on many trucks.

My own 2016 with only 6k miles on it does the same from time to time. I think with the TCC clutch holding better with tuning, we hear the resonance of the engine vibrating thru the aluminum case of the transmission...much like the dreaded gear rollover noise associated with an aftermarket clutch with a G56. If the transmission case was made of cast iron, you would never notice the resonance.

In the past, when I felt that vibration, I found I was to low in my rpm's for that gear, and dropped the gear by one to get the speed up to the drive gear needed. Use to call it lugging the engine or trans.

Same, I have a G56 tranny and in 4th and 5th if I'm lugging it will shutter but that's because of the after market clutch and something with the lineup of the gears. Perfectly normal though
