Re: Finally doing the deletes on my 18

I had driven it for an hour before I flashed it, so I doubt it’s the battery thing. I did have that problem on my 14 with the Raceme but it was cold and didn’t know one of the batteries was shorted out inside. Ray said it’s something to do with the turbo mapping on these new trucks. The only reason I still wonder if I didn’t do something right is the inconsistency of it. It sounds exactly like the whistle tunes that we loaded on my dads duramax when we delete it. That was one reason I wanted to get the videos posted. To see what y’all thought and so Ray can see the difference. It seems like everything else works great though. It’s just that turbo engagement at low rpm. It doesn’t quit until it gets a few hundred rpm above idle. Maybe it’s as simple as flashing it back stock and then flashing the delete tune again. The ecm side of this stuff is out of my abilities.

I’m happy with it. It’s amazing how much difference there is between my 14 2500 and the 18 4500 in the sound. The 14 model is a good bit louder. Of course-4 more feet of 5” pipe under the 4500 probably soaks up a good bit of sound.

Yeah I would say that 4’ would soak it up a little. I can not wait to get mine done. Love that sound!

Weird thing is-sometimes it does it sometimes it don’t. Even after hauling stuff all day. The cold mornings it’s a whole lot louder whistle. My little girl sticks her fingers in her ears, says it sounds like a jet.

    Sounds great!

If I'm backed into my driveway, use the remote from inside the house to start it and it was a little cold overnight...when you open the door to the garage, it's absolutely ear piercing until you get out of the garage. And I'm used to jet noise!
