Well was wondering if any body knows what there tranny temp normally runs when in tow haul mode? My truck has 106000 miles, used to run about 135 to 140 when towing a trailer with car on it around 6000 pounds, today ran about 160 to 165 on 200 mile trip, when I got home I checked temps of transmission cooler lines and cooler were both at 112 degrees (checked temp with laser gun) trans pan was at 138 , gauge was reading 158 with truck idling, almost seems like gauge is off, checked trans fluid level clean and didn't seem hot at all, any ideas?

My 2012 tranny temp runs about 167-168 while towing 12000 lbs.

Wow I wonder why mine was running cooler before, do u remember how hot it is outside when ur towing, it was 82 here today and humid

Doesn't make any sense why mine is running hotter than it was before, I plow snow with it too, I did get it up to 165 this winter pushing heavy wet snow banks back, that was the hottest I have ever seen it, maybe I have a sensor issue, I did find a bulletin for trans temp codes, they have a reflash for it, wierd part is tranny fluid doesn't even feel hot, think sensor is internal in tranny, have u had any wiring issues with bulkhead connector? I know all tranny wires run through it, I havent had any problems with mine but I know quite a few that have, I have had 4 ring and pinions, center sections and bearings done in rear end under warranty, and it just went again 2 weeks ago and Chrysler wouldn't warranty it again, I replaced the hole housing which is what they should have done to begin with, first one went at 18000 miles!

Ambient temperature has a lot to do with how hot your trans temps get you must not carry anything in your truck if your temps were in 135 to 140 range do you have double deep trans pan ? 158 isn’t bad at all

I generally see 80 to 90* over air temp when towing the camper. I actually peaked at 201 in stop and go traffic leaving Myrtle Beach on Saturday (air temp in the mid 90s) but came down to 170s once we got on the open road. That's the last time we wait till 10 am to hit the road.

Have you tried blowing out the trans cooler and radiator? May be blocked with debris.

I generally see 80 to 90* over air temp when towing the camper. I actually peaked at 201 in stop and go traffic leaving Myrtle Beach on Saturday (air temp in the mid 90s) but came down to 170s once we got on the open road. That's the last time we wait till 10 am to hit the road.
