What fell out from the engine compartment?

I was doing an oil & filter change and a fuel filter change on my 2012 Ram 3500 the other day. When I reached down to put the socket on the fuel liter cap I heard a clank, clank, thud. When I looked under the truck there was a C shaped chunk of steel laying on the ground. It's 2" long, the outside diameter is about 1-15/16" and the inside diameter is about 5/8".
I just changed my muffler bearing, so I know it's not that!

What is it and where does it belong???

I’ve never seen anything like that before. Curious what it is myself.

I wonder if it's a tool of some kind that got let under the hood from the previous owner???? Or is it some kind of weight damper that clips onto a line or hose? It's solid steel and quite heavy.

I never seen a tool like that before. Could be some kind of damper but I wouldn’t imagine it being made of solid steel?

The only work done on the truck since I got it has been done by me, except the ball joints. I had them done at a shop about a year ago....wonder if it's a tool for that?

I feel like I've seen this before. But I can't put my finger on it. I'll go look at my truck later and see if I can figure it out.
