    2014 Dodge turbo cleaning

I have heard from several different people that with a tuned dodge 6.7 that has been deleted that over time the soot build up in the VGT turbo will need to be cleaned out!

Is this true and if so how is this done?

There is a process for cleaning soot from the turbo, but usually it's too late when it come to that.

The issue is actually more common (or occurs quicker) on a stock truck, especially the pre-DEF 6.7 trucks. The factory tuning creates so much more soot to assist with the Regens, and all that soot passes through the exhaust side of the turbo. Add to that the unburnt fuel that is purposely added (again for the Regen) and it's easy to see how a VGT can get clogged.

Delete tuning stops the extra injection events and generally produces much less soot. So while the VGT will eventually get hung or fail, it will not happen as quickly on a deleted truck as it will on a similarly driven stock truck.

Thank you my truck is a 2014 and the VGT has not clogged up on me. I was just wondering if I had to do some preventative maintenance to avoid the costly repair?

I'm kind of hoping the archoil I'm using, will help alleviate some of those problems. But, I have seen some products, sold in Europe, that claim to clean the turbo.

Ive heard that frequent usage of the exhaust brake helps keep the turbo clean and the vanes moving freely

You need to run the fuel system cleaner first though. Otherwise the additive will take a long time. But it does work. I can tell just by looking at the tailpipe. It's just a thin film of carbon
