    load on every key on

Now that winter and cold temps have officially kicked in here, I have started sending whistle idle tune on key on. Now here is my question. Why is it that sometimes the load errors out and says resend tune to send on next key on. I have not been able to correlate any of the times to similar situations yet. I originally thought maybe the grid heater time was causing a delay but tried it manually a with different delays. The one thing I thought about but haven't looked into yet is the battery voltage. its only a minor inconvenience, but mean even though I used the remote start I still have to wait to warm up. anyone have any ideas? its a 2015 3500 single rear wheel running full delete from DRD. Tunes run properly so I'm assuming its connection related.

This is precisely why I tell all my customers to not to the use the every key on function. Lots of times the voltage drop from the grid heater cycle messes up the RT write. Secondly we have found that some trucks will loose the throttle pedal response completely if an RT tune is programmed in within the first minute of startup as well...reason here is some trucks ecms do self checks during that first minute and if something is being written in the ecm during this process it throws a checksum error and kills the throttle pedal.

    Adding to my comments above...

I did have the idea of adding a timer to the every key on feature so that it could still be used but have it not kick on till one minute after startup. That way, you can remote start the truck and have it kick over to a warm-up tune at a safe time.

I have already asked about this and hopefully the powers at be will have time to consider adding this feature.

That would be a great feature!

Re: load on every key on

well darn was hoping that wasn't the case. ill be turning that off later today. i was trying to avoid running out in this kind of weather and this is just the beginning of the cold temp drop here. there is nowhere for me to plug in at work. i had actually contacted Ram soon after buying the truck asking them why the truck can sit for the 15 minute remote start and not be up to temp just waste fuel. asked them why they disabled the exhaust break on startup. got a response something to the effect that can't be done but we know and agree that is a good warmup procedure. I have to say this is one of the little things that is completely disappointing about this truck. sorry y'all just venting bought the Laramie package partially for not having to go out before I got the family ready to leave was one of the deciding factors between ones on the lot. Yes I bought the truck as a family truck with plans of getting toys to haul at a later date.

Now that I did that vent I can also praise things. In South Dakota winds I average around 18MPG highway in and around town at 70MPH. Got an early morning hunt a few weeks ago going a different direction not fighting the wind and was just under 23MPG between 60-75MPH mostly on the upper end. Then on the way back from the pumpkin patch with my kid I actually had to fill up just to see if the numbers calculated the same as the dash. Before I put up the numbers yes I did have a 10 to 20MPH tailwind and it was up and down out of the hills, but it was 25 by dash and mid 24s calculated. This is an 80MPH stretch of road and I had cruise set at about 85.

Get a winter front for a little faster warm up and keeping temps better in the cold weather

I plug my 09 in for 1-2 hours depending on the temperature. I have no grid anymore but it's not cold enough to really worry about it in central Illinois so far. Along with parking in my barn
With the winter front I just close up 2-3 flaps when I start it and it's nice and warm before I leave. If it's over 30 degrees I leave 3 open when I'm driving so it doesn't get to warm though and please try of air moving

I haven't put it on yet this year but didn't notice much of a change running it last year. I figured it was how the constant wind hits it and moves the hot air out from other directions.

Are you using one that goes outside or inside of your hood
