That’s Kinda a loaded question- I would be prepared to start replacing things about 180k (injectors fuel pump etc) they can go longer but with decent maintence they can go down hill about then. If your planning on using it on weekends then you buy one with 150k and put 12k on a year you have some time to save a few bucks for repair/upgrade

I started off looking at older trucks like you but ended up going with a 4th gen for a few reasons. The big one was I wanted something lower miles, 80k or so, in great condition and an 03-07 with a manual trans. Those were few and far between and they were getting a premium for them. For a few thousand more I could get in a few year old truck that was much nicer and in the 30-50k miles range. Another thing is financing can be hard to get on a vehicle that old. Third thing is I test drove a 16 tradesman on a whim and really liked the interior space of the crew cab. I’ve had 2 quad cab ram 1500’s going back to 2008 with 3 kids and the crew cab is nice. A 4 th gen tradesman is similar in options to a 3rd gen slt. I had nothing but problems with my 14 1500 with all the electronics, evic/8.4 uconnect/navigation and everything those control. I wanted the simplicity.

yea I tried finding that too, but as much as it pains me, I think I'm going to keep my truck. I would just lose my *** trading it in. I owe about 9k on it, so I'll probably keep it a little longer to pay it off then start looking
