    Well well well, lookie here

Can we talk about this for a second?

Not knocking anything, but Smarty just under cut the hell out of the price of the Ultra....and its the same thing (unless i've completely missed something). Plus now they are offering the same MM3 software.

I bring this up because with the huge difference in pricing, attracting future buyers will be difficult; you can get the Smarty, ComMod, and EGT probe shipped for less than you can buy the RaceMe Ultra by itself.

    Thoughts and opinions?

(BTW: Before anyone gets in a tizzy; this is an open discussion of tuning platforms not a brand bashing contest. I fully support the Ultra and the work Ray and Franz are doing/have done; I'm just interested in a discussion about the two)

    I for one like this.
But you have to notice ... I have a Cummins "older" than the Ultra can work with.
It's about time the "older" trucks have more than a couple options.

@AnOldBiker This is very true! So its great news for the older cummins owners. I just cant wrap my mind around the almost 50% price difference between the two.

Well, Smarty Resource left the forum here because they said our Vendors fees were too high. They only were paying $35 a month for a basic Vendor package. We wonder about that then.

    No support?

Interesting. Maybe Smarty isn't turning the same revenue these days? But that's almost unfair monopoly what their doing with their pricing. Granted, I have seen a handful or two of Smarty Touch users compared the the hundreds of RaceMe Ultra users.

The OS looks identical, and the module is obviously the same; hell the Ultra even uses the MADS ComMod....I wonder what it is about the Smarty that turns people off. But I will say, the Ultra will get fried if the price remains the same; the internets will have a field day over an identical product for roughly twice the price. (Especially now with the Smarty MM3 competing with the Ultra MM3 - unsure of the price for the Smarty one right now)

From what I have been reading, and I'm far from a specialist on this topic, I would think Ray would be able to take care of both the Ultra and the Touch without issues.
If what I think is true, then I don't see it bothering him much.
But guys, there are more vehicles out there than the newer 6.7's.

I don't think I'm the only 5.9'er out here. And I have money to spend for my truck when I see something I like.

Touch units have always been cheaper than Ultras simply because they don't have delete capable tuning. The firmware on Touch only allows UDC Pro to used for custom tuning as well. This really limits what the Touch can do on newer model trucks.

MM3 tuners are sold as a blank units and can be programmed with either Warp or UDC Pro, which makes them more versatile.

My theory is you'll see the market steer toward the use of the MM3 more so than the other units.

Ahhhh that makes sense, I didn't see that part until I went back and looked. Emissions intact tuning indeed, that explains a lot.

That also explains why not a lot of people buy these then.

    Thanks for the insight!

Yes the touch has always been cheaper than an ultra. I haven't looked lately but used to be 500 cheaper. It can't do as much. MM3 as Ray said are a blank tuner. Buy one anywhere you'd like if you know how to work the tuning platforms and tune your own truck. If not, most would purchase from a good custom tuner such as Ray, in which case you get tuning to come with it at set price. Also as Ray said things will probably switch to the direction of a mostly MM3 market. But that is not to say that anyone with an ultra can't still do the same thing as the mm3 does.
