    Engine whine

I just traded up to a 17 2500 from an 09. The 17 has a periodic whine or roar rather coming from the engine compartment. Doesn’t really seem to be related to a/c as it does it when climate is off. Thought maybe a clutch fan issue. It happens hot or cold. Truck only has about 10k miles so I can take it to dealer, just wondering if this was normal on the newer trucks.

It could be the V V T's at work. Variable Vain Throttling is in the turbo. It is also your exhaust brake. They use it for the emissions and maintain the engine temps.

@Polaraco it could possible be the turbo, but wouldn’t most of that noise come from the tailpipe. It almost sounds more like an electric fan cycling on.
