    Question Lower a 2nd gen 4 X 4? Quick help

    For a good friend

    Can you lower a 98 2nd gen 2500 long bed 4 X 4? He wants to go 2".

I know 1/2 tons can be lowered, but they are 2WD. it takes a GM kit.

I imagine there may be tire fitment issues. I haven't been under one of those in ages. And you all know I'm well aged. LOL

    Thanks in advance.

If I remember correctly guys were taking 1500 4wd springs and putting them in which would lower it. I don’t know how much it would lower it though.

Or maybe taking 2500 gasser springs and putting them in there. That is if we’re talking about the front.

Is there enough room for the carrier to travel if he lowers it?

That I wouldn’t know. I don’t see why not if it’s too low then he could add a spacer to get it right where he wants. Or just get springs made to drop it where he wants. If he’s only dropping 2” I don’t see much of an issue, if he were going further I think at that point it would cause an issue. I don’t think there is much out there as far as this subject I think it’ll have to be something to experiment with in order to see exactly what issues it’ll cause if any.
