When did which features show up?

I am hunting a Cummins 3500 and the budget doesn’t let me get a late model so looking back a few years.

    I have an 05 1500 now.

Is there some place I can find out when things like
    The Aisin transmission was introduced
    The current body style
    DEF tanks

Are there years to stay away from?

    Thanks

The aisin transmission if I'm not mistaken was introduced in the earlier years on the 4500/5500 platform starting at 2012? Can't remember right off the top of my head. Someone will chime in if I happen to be off a year or so.

The 4th gen body style started in 2010. The newer headlight style started in 2013. The rear springs were introduced in 2013.5 (2500 model)

The def fluid was also introduced in 2013.

There really isn't a bad year to stay away from. You just need to see how the truck has been maintained. If it is currently deleted you'll need to see who was the original person to delete it and how they drove it and if they paid attention to the gauges when it was deleted.

Definitely check to see if there were signs of a gooseneck hitch or fifth wheel rails. Will give you an idea if it was used for towing alot.

Holler at me if you have any more questions I'll do my best to help ya out!

Others will chime in soon and help ya out my friend.

DDP got you squared away on the rest of your questions. Here's some details from from an article on allpar.com about the history of the Aisin transmission. https://www.allpar.com/Mopar/transmissions/aisin.html

"The Ram started using the Aisin Seiki six-speed AS68RC automatic transmission in 2007, as an option on all of its diesel-powered chassis cab trucks; the transmission was rated at 750 lb-ft of input torquecapacity."

"In 2013, Ram switched to the more robust AS69RC automatic, which also had some control changes for greater durability, and extended availability to the Ram 3500 pickup."
