Is there a way to use a VIN to find out which tranny a truck was built with?
Pretty much none of the used truck searches say anything beyond auto or manual.
I want an Aisin.

2003- 3500 RWD Automatic. S & B intake, BD Intercooler, Pusher Air Horn, MM3 Double R Tuning, Turbo Timer, electric Flex-a-lite fans, FASS 95, 50 HP tips, upgrade to 351 turbo, 3.42 gears, Twin air compressors, air bags, Remote dual oil filters, Hellwig sway bar, Front Winch. Home made Fuel Heater, BD Exhaust brake with Torque Lock. Tons of TLC
i think you can do it on rams website, it'll give you a build sheet/window sticker.
@Rtetrault provided this link in another thread but it should work for you too...

If you want an ansin. There is another way to know. If the trans dip is on the drivers side it’s an ansin. Passenger side, well depends on the truck.

Take the vin to a dealer and the service writer can print off a build sheet. If it's a dually look at the rear diff cover as the factory max tow package included an aluminum diff cover. They were cast aluminum with external fins and they did not paint them. You should be able to look at the tranny pan and maybe Google what it should look like.
