2007.5 c&c

I wouldn't have thought of myself as a noob after 12 years owning Cummins trucks but, I found a 2007.5 c&c truck with the DPF removed, no tuner, no bung resistors.. I thought all 6.7 trucks needed a tuner to remove the DPF. The seller said that the early 6.7 c&c didn't need a tuner. Thoughts?

I put exhaust on my old 07.5 and drove it 20 miles to the shop to get it tuned with no problems. Pretty sure it threw a check engine light but no limp mode. Been a few years
