My '17 2500 came with two bed lights at the top rear of the bed. I'd like to add some "under-the-rail" LED lights in the bed. Can I tap into the wiring for the existing bed lights or is that a no-no on the newer trucks?

The bed lights are not regulated by the can bus like headlights and such. Adding a handful of relatively low watage LED lights should be no issue at all.

I added 6 LED lights to the underside of the rails, spliced into the cargo light, no problems.

Shouldn’t be any problem splicing into your factory bed lights...

Thank you for the replies. Gonna get some ordered up.
Did the same thing got them from Walmart over a year ago still work no issues spliced them into the OEM cargo light wiring. Since I have a topper they are the only lighting currently for the bed.
