    I lost about 3/4 of a gallon when I did mine.

    I actually just broke the seal on the hose first and it drained back into the engine.... I lost very little and the rest from the EGR Cooler, I dumped into a bucket, the through a coffee filter back into the overflow tank

    I've heard money works pretty well.


    In all seriousness, there's not a whole lot you can do to remove the soot buildup from the EGR without having specialized equipment.

    Very informative thread and it answered a lot of the questions that I had.

    OP, let me see if I got this right, you only deleted EGR and left PDF intact? Or did you remove that too when you swapped the pipe?
