    Rim Towing

    Towing 10,000 pounds horse trailer.

    2018 Ram 2500 4.5 BDS lift.

My Question is 22x12 rim too much for towing or 22x10?

Hello, I currently tow a lq horse trailer. Is the trailer a gooseneck I assume? How much pin weight does your trailer put on the truck? Also what is the weight rating of the wheels?

    2021 2500 68RFE..... I'll just keep the goodies a secret!!!

Going to depend 100% on the weight rating of the wheel.

What brand wheel are you looking at?

You need to call American Force and ask what the load rating of your wheel of choice is.

The only wheel with published load rating is their 19.5 dually wheel.

Wheel Load – this is the maximum load that the wheel is designed to carry. The wheel load is determined by taking 50% of the heaviest axle rating of the vehicle (GAWR – gross axle weight rating).

Example; if your heaviest axle weight rating is 3000 lbs then your wheel load requirement would be 1500 lbs.

    Re: Rim Towing

With a wheel load rating of 3500 lbs a 2500 RAM most likely has a 6500 lb rear axle rating I think.

So those wheels can out do the axle. The axle or tires will most likely by the limiting factor.

Because of the rear axle rating is why I got rid of my 2018 2500 and got a 2019 3500 dually.
