Thanks guys!!! Not really happy with how the 6x9s fit in the front doors so I ordered a set of 6 1/2s for the front doors and will move the 6x9s to the back doors plus a little sound deadening. Just need to find the time to do it...

I forgot to come back and update this thread... I put a 6 1\2" woofer from a component set in the front doors and moved the 6x9s to the rear doors as planned. It really didn't change the sound from the drivers seat but the girls said they could hear the difference in the back.
Now I'm thinking about upgrading the factory radio. Unfortunately the 'premium alpine' system makes this much more difficult than I wish it was. I'm still trying to decide if I want to run all new wires to the speakers or buy the interface that keeps the factory amp. Decisions decisions....

i have a 16 big horn with the non alpine system and deffinatley am looking to upgrade to a similar setup. how do i go about wiring an aftermarket amp? is there a metra harness adapter? is the alpine harness for the sub woofer burried under the carpet? if anyone has done this please let me know.
It is unlikely that the wires for the factory sub are there and even if they were they would not be connected to anything since you don't have the alpine system. I think most tap the wires for the rear doors to pick up signal for a sub amp.
I recently replaced my factory radio with a Kenwood and used the iDatalink Maestro to handle the wiring conversion with the factory amp. They !Ake some really nice stuff. I don't know if they have anything to handle your situation or not.

what do they tap, and then use a line converter?
The easiest place to tap without removing the radio is in the side kick panels. The wires will be in a bundle with a ton of other wires but there is plenty of room to work there.
The drivers door threshold was
GREY/LIGHT GREEN +
GREY/DK GREEN -
Pass door threshold was
DK GREEN / LIGHT GREEN +
DK GREEN / GREY -
You connect the input wires of your Line Output Converter to the factory speaker wires. The output side of your LOC gets connected to the amp.

do you tap into the rear speakers or the fronts? and then as far as a sub goes, do you think a 12 would be to big for the amount of space there is under the seat?
this is what im looking at for my setup. let me know if you have any more recommendations.
