Thread: 68RFE Opinions

    Re: 68RFE Opinions

Why doesn't pulling for anything less than a built trans make sense? Its like 4 hours worth of work.

If you put the parts in and then have to send the core to rev max later they will credit you the full cost of the parts toward a trans build minus 400 to clean and inspect/refurbish.

So its literally the same thing only this trans might run another 100k before the build.

    Thanks for the help!

On another note that 19 is gonna be a beast!!

    I'm a little jealous.

I get both sides of it- are you local for RevMax? If not how does shipping work for core/refurbish?

What you want to do would help the trans be on the safer side.

what RamIt is sayin for stock air/fuel save your money and do valvebody and bypass then if you have issues send it off/take it out. In theory it’s more efficient since you don’t need to pull trans to do a valve body so you’d only have to potentially pull it once if your converter don’t hold

@TexNeck summed up my theory perfectly. I would only pull the transmission when absolutely necessary. In my experience, nothing ever goes as planned when you start pulling major components out, so I try to limit that to when it's needed.

Also, thank you! I'm looking forward to it!

Not trying to hijack the thread but I saw were Randy's is running a small discount on his new 'Babymaker 1000' valve body.

He also has a kit available with the valve body, filter, metal plug adapter, and Magtech pan for $1,700.

Think this would be a solid starter upgrade for a completely stock transmission.

Maybe order a bypass valve too??

    Just curious

I am wanting to do basically the same thing.

I have a 2018 2500 with 33,000 on stock trans with 35’s and it does not like towing.

I was thinking about the valve body.

Would I need to have my MM3 tunes changed?

    It already has trans tuning.

I want to just limp the stock along for a few years so I can save up for a full built trans.

You'd need new tunes to take advantage of the new valve body friend.

Just out of curiosity, I have read a bunch of threads on transmissions on here and everyone says go with Revmax.

I know monster transmission is another well known performance trans brand used by many high end builders.

Is there a reason no one really uses them here or really ever mentions them?

Has anyone ever used there products?

The 68’s are tricky transmissions to build to stand up behind increased power.

Revmax just seems to be the experts on this particular transmission.

They also make their own converters, input shafts, valve bodies, etc.

Maybe someone else has some experience with Monster Transmissions.

I’ve been very pleased with my RevMax 550 for about 3 thousand miles so far.
