PSA: Don't Use NAPA Fleet Rotors With Hawk Super Duty Street Pads - Squealing (YMMV)

Summary: Don't pair the NAPA Fleet Rotors with the Hawk Super Duty Street pads.

The materials do not like each other and will squeal like a stuck pig.

Short story long: After a lot of hassle, including an axle seal leak that had been creeping up, I finally fixed my squealing brakes.

There was a lot of back-and-forth; still, in the end, I had two separate (brand new) sets of Hawk Super Duty street pads mounted to some NAPA Fleet Rotors, including replacing a rotor and caliper and pads after 300 miles to ensure that I did not have contamination somewhere.

The stopping power was fine, but after following the break-in exactly, multiple times (on new pads), I gave up and went with a set of Powerstop pads.

With the same rotors (that were squeaking with the Hawks), I can brake in silence with the Powerstops.

Going on about 2,000 miles with some light towing.

I love Hawk Pads otherwise, and will continue to use them on my other vehicles, but they were obnoxious on my rear axle.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the Hawk pads.

This information will help others to avoid the hassle you went through.

I have seen good reviews for the Powerstop pads.

Yeah, I will definitely stick to Powerstop on this truck.

My default for other vehicles is still going to be Hawk, and I have a buddy who runs Hawk on his Tundra, but the combination I had was so loud.

Stopped great, except that I hated touching the brakes.

Hopefully it helps someone else not spend the extra $600 like I did, LOL.
