Thread: Exhaust Brake?

    Exhaust Brake?

I'm new to diesels, and as I read threads in the forum about the exhaust brake, many members are looking for ways to have it engage automatically when they start their truck.

Is there some positive aspect to driving with the exhaust brake on all the time?

    Re: Exhaust Brake?

The positive advantage of driving with the exhaust brake on all the time includes the following:

Keeps the VGT vanes moving to prevent carbon buildup and sticking vanes.

Using engine braking to save wear on the brakes.

Increased stopping power when towing heavy.

Speed control while descending steep grades.
