2015 Bighorn 8.4N Head Unit No Sound?

    Okay, Fella's and Felett's.

I suppose my head unit sensed me exploring alternative radio options and decided it was time to give up the ghost.

On my way back from Bonita Springs on Tuesday, the rear left channel completely went out.

I shifted the balance to exclude that channel, and all was good until this morning. I got in and found no sound.

By the time I arrived at work, it came back on, but went right back off when I backed into a parking space (the backup monitors stopped their tone).

Fast forward to this afternoon, now it dont say nothin.

Upon reviewing this forum, I found that most aftermarket systems compromise the functionality of certain features.

I would rather go back with the same unit, of course, but wouldn't Android Auto be nice?

Is there anyone who works on these units?

I emailed OEM solutions, and they said they dont rebuild mine; theirs are aftermarket, and an alot of functions may be lost.

Does anyone know anything about these units that could tell me if they have a coded amp that is separate from the head unit, or if they are all one?

My system does not have the upgraded Bose or sub.

    Any help is appreciated.

Hello all, I was surprised I never received a response to this post.

What I did was order and install a new Sony XV-XAV8500 head unit with an Idata Maestro Son 1 module to retain factory controls such as seats, climate, cameras & data.

It is a 10" screen that tilts and pans.

Installation took almost 4 hours, but it looks fantastic and includes all the new stuff: Android Auto, ETC.

Also, I added front sensors and an automatic front-facing camera that activates when the sensors detect proximity.

In the iData flash of the Maestro unit, I accidentally clicked the front parking sensors and the front camera, so every time I booted up the head unit, it would read no sensor input /no front camera detected.

Instead of removing the Maestro unit, I found the front sensor wires, installed just two right in the front, and also installed a decent-quality camera from Amazon.

Just the feeling of being locked into Uconnect with updates and tracking capability, I am so glad I got rid of the factory Uconnect unit.
