Towing With Tow Mirrors Up?
So when I got my truck, it didn't come with tow mirrors.
The first thing I did was purchase a set and did the swap ASAP, and I love them.
The question is, am I the only one that doesn't tow with the mirrors up?
I've tried both ways (that's what she said?), but I honestly like towing with them down.
Remember that most of my towing is just a 16' open trailer with a sxs on it since we decided not to buy a 5th wheel toy hauler AFTER I got the truck, but I enjoyed the truck much; I kept it.
Re: Towing With Tow Mirrors Up?
All flipping them up does is give a different angle and get the mirrors wider.
Do it however you feel more comfortable and can see better.
But remember that flipping up your moose mirrors also adds 17.3% horsepower in 3rd gear and gives everybody a reason to think you're towing a huge trailer!

With our old camper, I always had it in "moose hunting" mode.
It helps, but ever since then, with our little trailer, I don't like it, LOL.
Maybe because it's an open trailer, and I don't need to see down the sides as I did with the camper.
I'm still getting used to towing open trailers, honestly too.

I'll be honest; I typically don't flip up my tow mirrors when pulling our travel trailer.
It's not on purpose, really, just that we pull the camper so infrequently now that I forget until we're on the road.
Thankfully these mirrors give good visibility either way once adjusted properly.

Ya I keep mine down all the time
Off subject, but have you seen the convex mirror on the 2023s?
Back to a little corner mirror like 3rd Gens.
At least on the ones I have seen.
Re: Towing With Tow Mirrors Up?
I had found it easier to see (to me, anyway) when I had them in the moose mirror mode that the convex mirrors were easier to see out of, but I think they look ridiculous in the moose position.
I keep mine down.
I never had an issue when pulling trailers.

Re: Towing With Tow Mirrors Up?
I run them in moose mode.
I’m towing a 44 ft 5th wheel, and in the other mode can’t see around it that well.
I’m adding rear side cameras to the trailer next.
I might change my mirror position when those additional views run down the road.
Re: Towing With Tow Mirrors Up?
Mirrors down for normal everyday driving, up when towing my fifth wheel.
I use memory #1 in the down position and memory #2 when up.
Re: Towing With Tow Mirrors Up?
Mirrors are up for me all the time; the convex mirror on the bottom, in my opinion, gives a much wider view.
I have an extra set that I have been thinking about cutting up and shortening, but I haven't done it yet.
I am still researching plastic welding.
Does anyone know what type of plastic these are made of?

Dang it, Bob, now I got to read again, as I forgot how to set the presets on everything!:whack:
