Alpine Premium 2017 Mega Laramie
I have a 2017 mega Laramie with alpine premium system factory 8.4 Uconnect.
Only thing I have done is add a 500 alpine 4 channel pushing 2 Memphis slim line 12’s.
Love the mix of bass and clear sound the integration has produced.
Would like more volume really.
Anyone have experience upgrading all the mids and highs?
There is like 11 I think even speakers in the head liner.
Definitely want to keep my factory radio if possible.
Also all this fuss about the train horns!!!!
What’s the best and most affordable?
Rite on and thanks.

Re: Alpine Premium 2017 Mega Laramie
I left my factory sub closure in place and just replaced the cheap paper imitation alpine sub with a (shallow mount) 8" pioneer --- Much cleaner bass now - This is all I was looking for.
I also replaced the corner dash speakers with JBL (Club Series) & Rear doors with JBL 6x9 (Club Series)
I was told the factory 8.4 head unit does not send highs to the front door speakers due the reason they are just a mid-bass speaker - Adding a 6x9 2way or 3way would be kind of worthless - To be honest I can't even hear my front doors - The rears sound amazingly Clear & Clean!
(I also looked @ Kicker but thought the JBL & Infinity (Harmon & Kardon) just flat out sounded Cleaner/Crisper/Clearer - Just a better quality sound).
Maybe adding a component cross over system in the doors would be the ideal install & also amp them!
Front doors have to have a shallow mount or use a adapter.
Anyway - I was pleased the way my system sounds now - Much Cleaner & Crisp Mids and Highs compared to the dull / muddy stock alpine. I don't even use the surround - Seemed to dull the sound more!
I looked at JBL and Infinity and went with the JBL.
It seemed adjusting the fade - 2 clicks back to the rear - made the front dash speakers not so over bearing. (For My Ears - I found the happy spot)
One of these summer days - I might replace the center dash speaker with another JBL (Club Series) and Keep the other for a souvenir.
Anyway I am rambling so I will shut the Heck up! Look into JBL or Infinity for a budget minded install.
Edit: This might have not been the correct or right way to go about adding Cleaner/Crisper/Richer/More Clearer Sound! (But even the Wife thinks it sounds so much better)!
Mind You - My 8.4 sound level never goes higher then 15 - this is mostly when going down the interstate @ 75-85mph.

Everything SyN is spot on. I will only add that the factory Alpine system speakers have a nominal impedance of 2 ohm. Most replacement speakers are 4 ohm. 4 ohm speakers will work but will not draw as much power and therefore have a lower over all sound volume.
JBL and Infinity both offer mids and highs in the 2-3 ohm range as well as some others. I chose Infinity when I did my upgrade years ago and still very happy with them.
These are the sizes & types I used in my replacement:
Dash - 3 1/2" 2 way full range
Front door - 6 1/2" woofer from a component set (ordered from Crutchfield as the included harnesses and the adapter plate)
Back door - 6 1/2 3 way full range

Agree ?? with the 2 ohm. Doubles the power. If I remember any 4 ohm speaker can be wired to 2ohm. I can’t remember whether if it has to have dual voice coil‘s or what.
Re: Alpine Premium 2017 Mega Laramie
I meant agree 100%.
Sorry
Re: Alpine Premium 2017 Mega Laramie
In my 2011 1500 I replaced all speakers. I had to make from wood the adapters for the tweeters , beyond that the door speakers sucks..... 6x8.... really?
Re: Alpine Premium 2017 Mega Laramie
Sorry, apparently I can't edit

To explain better. There is no doubling of power. Amps are pulled not pushed. The speaker allows more work to be done ( amp draw ). Volts x amps is watts.
More amps is more watts.
Essentially you can go with higher ohms. But not lower unless the amp is rated for it.
You can wire multiple speakers ( or coils, aka dual voice coils) in series or parallel depending on what you are trying to achieve. . But the speaker will only use "x" the power as you are using "x" many speakers. dual voice coils will be louder obviously. But you limit yourself in some ways as well
I always prefer single voice coils
Hope this helps
