Running B99 - Diesel Fuel
Has anybody here had any experience running B99 in a 6.7L?
76 Stations around here sell it.
I’ve run two tanks, and the motor seems to like the extra cetane.
I’ve heard a little about higher water content, more filtration/separation required, fuel system corrosion, etc.
Also curious about running the B99 with a tune if anybody has experience with that.
Much appreciated!
Re: Running B99 - Diesel Fuel
I try to stay away from biodiesel as much as possible.
My nephew worked at a biorefinery as a chemist, and he told me not to trust the crap they put out, especially at certain times of the year.
Those times coincided with their state/federal quality checks.
I’ll burn it in my tractors and mowers, but not in my $80k truck.
That being said, I burn a ton of ethanol and E85 in my other vehicles with excellent results.
Re: Running B99 - Diesel Fuel
I had a chance to chat with the Tanker Driver @ the local Shell Truck stop whom was stopped and Unloading his load of Diesel to the truck stop.
I asked him - where this load of fuel come from and what type of additives is added.
He specifically told me that the company whom he loads from - adds their own additives & he did comment that most diesel delivered all over the county has some percent of bio added.
He said normally 5-20% - some have it posted at the pump - most don't.
I thought he mentioned - posting it at the pump is not mandated.
Note: Take his comments with a grain of salt.
I do know Local Loves Country Store actually posts the biodiesel sticker at the pump - 5 to 15% biodiesel added!
I have filled up their many times with never a issue - But I as well have always added a Proper Amount of Hot Shots Secret (EDT) or Winter Anti-Gel @ every fill-up.
Note Again: Local Shell or Phillips 66 truck stop does not post it at the pumps.
I asked the attendants on duty at the time if they new - Ya I got the - (I Just Work Here) Stare :surrender:

Biggest thing I recall nephew referencing was, tons of water.
Keep an eye on filters, etc.and on keeping the additives going into your tank.
