Yes you can.
No issues at all.
I only plug mine in to change the tune about 2 times a year.

When I leave on long trips for work and the truck just sits I will unplug the MM3 from the OBD2 plug.
This way I am not drawing any power over a long period of time.
When I get back, I just plug it back in and start the truck right up, no issues at all.
Also, I live in Alaska so I understand the struggle with the cold temps.
The Grid heater is tough on the batteries.
Letting the truck warm up to around 125 before changing any settings on them MM3 is good practice.

Yes just simply unplug the OBD cable as mentioned above.
That reduce any current draw from the canbus.
The truck will run just fine with the tuner unplugged.
