Re: EGT SENSOR INSTALL W/EGR COOLER IN PLACE.
Are you guys adding EGT probes to both the down pipe and exhaust manifold?
Is this the MM3 EGT probe or something else?

Post turbo temp is going to be a lot cooler than pre turbo temp.

Agreed, but I know my baselines today as I monitor 4 exhaust temperature sensors.
The one I watch closest is #1 in the downpipe.
I never turn the truck off until this under 400* F.
Side note; the next 2 sensors (#2and #3) get very hot during Regen., up to 1800*F.
I wonder if the MM3 can monitor exhaust temp sensor #1.

Number 1 as in DPF inlet? Or your down pipe sensor?
Are you factory or maxing out a emissions intact tune.
I’m not grasping why you want to monitor egts so closely.
I’ll go from a 1600 degree egts from a wot pull to idle and mine drops down below 400 degrees in a matter of seconds.

I am factory at this point.
I believe number 1 is in the downpipe - post turbo temp..
I let if cool off to below 400 so as to not "coke" oil in the turbo bearings. (maybe ****)
The others I started off monitoring to learn what it was doing during a Regen.
If driving around town it takes about 1 minute to drop to 400 or below.
If coming off the freeway after towing my trailer it takes about 3 minutes to drop to 400.

Exhaust temp sensor 1 is gonna be labeled DPF inlet or pre DPF temp sensor or something along those lines it’s located at the end of the down pipe where it bolts to the DPF.
The sensor post turbo on the elbow is a nox sensor, not sure if that’s the one you are referring too.

The probe adapter fitting should be 1/8” NPT 27 TPI.

Re: EGT SENSOR INSTALL W/EGR COOLER IN PLACE.
Has anyone drilled and tapped their 5th Gen manifold?
I am trying to figure out if removing the wheel well liner will give enough access to drive it.
