Re: 2011 Holset HE351VE possible actuator issue
Thanks guys.
I had just gotten info back from Geno's about who to talk to and had tried yesterday, but Jason was out.
I was going to try and call back today once I got a chance from work.

I just saw this update, aside from the one random CEL a while back my actuator has been working well and I’m happy with it. I will admit that when the CEL came on it was disheartening but it seems to have been a fluke. Keep in mind my truck is a 2011 so the City Diesel comments above don’t apply to me.
Re: 2011 Holset HE351VE possible actuator issue
The 2012 & older trucks have the motor mount differently to the gearbox for the actuator.
Therefore, there is no need to replace it.
The later trucks have more bolts mounting the motor to the gearbox, probably for more support of the internals to try and stop the failure.
I reached out to Jason by email as my truck shows the signs. No big deal, the truck now liked the colder weather this morning better than the warmer in the afternoon. It all makes sense now. [emoji848]
I feel better now knowing it is not me.

Jason reached out and he is sending out a new updated gearbox.
Good bunch of guys at the company.
Now to find the warm temps to work on the truck after work.
2013 2500 6.7 Cummins crew cab white and stock as can be.
If it were not for bad luck I would have no luck at all.

Symptoms of the sticking can be a P226c code or a surging at idle with a slight load that may get worse as the engine heats up. This can be caused by sticking vanes, however on some of the original gear boxes we machined for the 2013+ trucks we did not include enough extra clearance for the large factory tolerance of the gear. This leads to the gear binding in the housing the actuator then goes full amperage trying to get to the position thats requested and overshoots getting stuck.
Anyone who suspects they may be affected by this please call us so we can get your information and make it right.
So moving forward will the new actuators come with the correct sized gear box for the people with 2013+ trucks?
Or will it be a case by case situation.

All of the gearboxes supplied on or after 1/17/2019 are the correct size. Gear boxes sent before may or may not have been the larger size depending on which batch it was supplied from. If you ordered from Genos and yours was shipped before that date it is the gearbox that does not have enough clearance. Not every turbo will have the clearance issues though, less than 1 in 3.

Good grief time flies, yes 1/17/2020.
Re: 2011 Holset HE351VE possible actuator issue
When you checked the VGT commanded position verses the actual position where they the same?
