2012 RAM 3500 - Cummins Head Replacement Recommendation?
Hey Everybody, I own a 2012 RAM 3500 in the shop for a blown head gasket.
The head went to the machine shop, where I was informed that the charge was too damaged to be milled.
Therefore, I am looking for recommendations for purchasing a new head.
I have looked at Choate Performance's new head O-ringed for $2400ish or a resurfaced one for $1900.
If there are any ideas, please let me know.
I would prefer not to pay a core charge if I can help it because I believe my current head will not pass their tolerances.
I also wonder if I need to get an o-ringed head or if I can go with a standard head.
I am not planning to do a big build at any time.
All I am looking to do in the near term is new boost tubes, pusher intake manifold, and delete the grid heater.
Later on, I would like to add a Fass lift pump.
If you have any thoughts, please pass them along.
I appreciate any help you can provide.

Fleece makes good heads, industrial injection, and D&J.
The OEM gasket should be perfect for your upgrades.
I have OEM with no failures "knock on wood."
I would buy head studs for assurance; 425s will do.

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that I had already purchased a set of Xotic head studs and a cosmetic MLX head gasket for the job before I was told the head was shot.
Thanks again Corkey
