Brakes Sticking Or Something Else?
I recently had a problem with my 2017 2500 on what I thought was the rear brakes sticking due to the wheel seals leaking.
The first little bit you drive it when cold, it’s okay, but after it’s warmed up after a few miles, it starts to drag/slow down and make almost a grinding noise, then go away for a sec.
I figured I’d go ahead and do parking brake shoes, rotors, and new pads because the old ones were heavily oil soaked.
I have finished with the rear brakes, and now, driving it, I still have the same thing.
It almost feels as if you can even feel it through the floor.
I’ve checked all fluids, and everything seems fine there.
Any thoughts on what it could be?

It might be worth getting it hot, then jacking up each wheel and turning it by hand to see if you can isolate the problem.

If it's a brake, it will be really hot after a few minutes of driving.
Use an infrared thermometer or spritz the brakes with water to see which is hot.
I had an F250 that would drag the front brakes after getting warm.
The calipers were slightly oversized and would stick in the slides as they warmed up and expanded.
New calipers fixed it.

Re: Brakes Sticking Or Something Else?
So after checking into it, I found that the inside wheel bearing is toast.
I’m assuming that that was the cause of all the grinding, but I won’t know until I get that redone.
On a side note, I think it didn’t get enough oil into the hub after replacing the seal.
I assumed jacking one side up to let the diff fluid flow into the side that had the seal replaced would be good enough, but I’m thinking not now.
Any suggestions as to how to make sure oil gets into the hub? Thanks!

More than likely, the bad bearing is what caused the seal to start leaking.
Make sure the gear oil level in the differential is good.
